The mission of the 711 Theatre Project is to empower all Iowans - artists & audiences – with greater opportunities to interact. To this end, the competition empowers performance artists to create original works for audiences to enjoy at an affordable price.

As the only known short-play competition with a deadline, the 711 Theatre Project shifts from the focus from “finding” one’s vision to creating it. With 7 days to produce an 11-minute play and given the production values up front, performance artists are free to work together as a team to dream, dare and dramatize.
